Professional Summary
Susanne Nienaber von Türk is a partner in the corporate department of Wormser, Kiely, Galef & Jacobs LLP. Her practice focuses on cross-border and domestic corporate and commercial transactions, including joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, and distribution and supply transactions. Her corporate clients come from a wide range of industries, such as manufacturing, packaging, engineering, media, software, and tourism.
Ms. von Türk advises clients, including start-ups, on all aspects of the establishment and operation of their U.S. affiliates. She also functions as U. S. general counsel for companies from German-speaking countries. In this capacity, Ms. von Türk represents clients in employment law matters, including executive contract disputes and discrimination claims. She assists corporate clients in the conduct of internal investigations and in establishing policies essential to litigation avoidance. Ms. von Türk’s experience includes the representation of clients in U.S. litigation in matters as diverse as product liability, commercial contract disputes, and estate law.
Ms. von Türk serves as counsel to not-for-profit organizations in connection with governance issues and applications for tax-exempt status. She also represents individuals in connection with trust and estate matters.
Ms. von Türk graduated from Hamburg University School of Law in 1982 and received an LL.M. from Columbia University School of Law in 1987. She is admitted to practice law in New York and Hamburg, Germany. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. von Türk was a partner in the New York office of McDermott, Will & Emery LLP.
Ms. von Türk clerked with the Commission of the European Union in Brussels, Belgium, and with the Court of Appeals in Hamburg, Germany. She also worked as a research associate with the Max-Planck-Institute for Foreign and Private International Law in Hamburg, Germany.
Ms. von Türk is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the American Foreign Law Association and a member of the American Council on Germany. She is an approved attorney (Vertrauensanwalt) of the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany.
