Professional Summary
Michael Mandel practices exclusively in the area of business and family-based immigration law. He advises individuals and businesses in connection with a variety of immigration-related matters, including nonimmigrant (temporary) and immigrant visa petitions, labor certification applications, family-based petitions, and adjustment of status and citizenship applications. Mr. Mandel has also litigated asylum, removal and deportation cases. He writes and lectures on a variety of immigration-related topics.
As the Co-Chair of the Advocacy Committee of the American Immigration Lawyers Association’s New York chapter, Michael works closely with immigrants, community-based organizations, non-profits, religious groups and others to push for positive immigration reform and to improve the day-to-day lives and treatment of immigrants. He is also a former member of AILA NY’s Pro Bono Committee and AILA’s national Family Immigration Law Committee, and a volunteer attorney with the New York City Immigrant Advocacy Initiative, which organizes monthly legal clinics for immigrants.
Prior to law school, Michael worked for two years with City Year, an AmeriCorps national service organization, in Chicago.
