Professional Summary
Ms. Cody’s practice focuses on all aspects of employment and
labor law. She advises clients on the preparation and
administration of personnel policies and on compliance with
federal and state employment and labor statutes, including
strategies for handling reductions in staff, discipline and
termination actions, employee disability, leaves of absence,
non-compete, whistleblower and wage and hour issues. She
conducts trainings and internal investigations and assists
employers in establishing policies essential to litigation
avoidance. Ms. Cody also drafts and negotiates employment
agreements, including executive contracts.
Ms. Cody represents clients in federal and state trial and
appellate courts, in various arbitration forums, and in
proceedings before administrative agencies, including the
Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the United States
Department of Labor and state agencies throughout the United
States. She also represents clients in collective bargaining
negotiations and election campaigns; she has extensive
experience representing and counseling not-for-profit
organizations.
Ms. Cody serves as co-chair of the New York State Bar
Association, Labor and Employment Section, EEO Committee.
